Armed Forces Covenant
Yeovil Town Council Signs the Armed Forces Covenant
Yeovil Town Council is proud to announce that it formally signed the Armed Forces Covenant on 4th July 2026, reaffirming its commitment to supporting serving personnel, reservists, veterans, and military families within our community. The Covenant was signed by Chief Executive / Town Clerk Amanda Card and Commodore Eleanor Hollingworth RN, Executive Officer of RNAS Yeovilton, in the presence of the Mayor of Yeovil, Councillor Tony Lock.

The signing marks an important milestone in strengthening the Council's support for the Armed Forces community and recognising the valuable contribution that serving personnel, veterans, reservists and their families make to both Yeovil and the nation.
What is the Armed Forces Covenant?
The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise that those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces, and their families, should be treated fairly and should not face disadvantage as a result of their service.
It recognises that members of the Armed Forces community make significant sacrifices on behalf of the country and that public bodies, businesses, and charities all have a role to play in supporting them.
The Council's Commitment
By signing the Covenant, Yeovil Town Council has committed to:
- Promoting support for the Armed Forces community;
- Supporting reservists and Cadet Force Adult Volunteers;
- Welcoming applications from veterans;
- Recognising military skills, experience, and qualifications within recruitment processes;
- Supporting Armed Forces-related events and initiatives;
- Helping to signpost members of the Armed Forces community to appropriate support services; and
- Raising awareness of the needs of serving personnel, veterans, reservists, and military families.
As a town with strong and historic links to the Armed Forces, particularly through our close relationship with RNAS Yeovilton, the Council is proud to demonstrate its support for those who serve, have served, and the families who support them.
